Saltaire Village

Saltaire is a well-preserved Victorian model village designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 200. It was built to house textile workers from the overcrowded city, offering improved living standards. The village features Salts Mill, a park, and Italianate architecture. The village includes over 7,000 documents and maps, showcasing its original design, which included a school, library, church, hospital, and almshouses. Once one of the largest industrial buildings in the world, it now houses the David Hockney Art Gallery, shops, and businesses.

National Science and Media Museum

A FREE museum devoted to the science and culture of light and sound technologies. Includes state-of-the-art Wonderlab gallery (which explores the science of light, sound and perception through state-of-the-art, hands-on activities and breathtaking shows) and three cinema screens.

Explore the past, present and future of media technologies in Sound and Vision - two permanent galleries packed with over 500 fascinating objects. With surprises around each corner, Sound and Vision brings the museum’s world-class collections to life in exciting and unexpected ways.

Bradford Industrial Museum

Another FREE museum located in a former worsted spinning mill, showcasing industrial machinery and transport. It contains permanent displays of textile machinery, steam power, engineering innovations and motor vehicles.

You can experience the sights, sounds and smells of whirring machinery, and learn from the skilled volunteers the tricks of printing and weaving.
